The Autosorb-iQ sorption platform

Autosorb iQ series - a new concept for gas sorption

Autosorb iQ is the latest evolution of our proven Autosorb family of analysers.

For the highest precision measurements of porous and powder materials, three versions meet differing requirements:

  • AutoSorb-iQ-AG for Surface Area and porosity measurements with a wide range of gases.
  • AutoSorb-iQ-MP gives the highest sensitivity and precision for investigations of low surface area and microporous materials.
  • AutoSorb-iQ-C adds the possibility of catalyst and chemisorption measurements at temperatures up to 1100°C.

Every iQ instrument features

  • Best of class purity, with special attention to system cleanliness and elimination of leak sources.
  • Patented coolant level control system, to minimise the amount of unadsorbed gas for the highest possible sensitivity.
  • Automated, tracable sample preparation with 2 integrated high vacuum degas ports.
  • Highly flexible and upgradable.

Precise physisorption measurement

Dedicated dosing manifold and pressure transducers for each cell allows measurement of the adsorption process in the smallest possible volume to maximise sensitivity, and enhance throughput of the dual station version.

Automatic coolant level control removes the need for uncertain corrections for dead space, and minimises the cold-zone volume for improved sensitivity.

State-of-the-art  ceramic diaphragm pressure gauges, give the best available accuracy and, most importantly, stability.

Multiple pressure range options: 1, 10, 1000mmHg, plus the option of upgrade to the AutoSorb-iQ-XR with 0.1Torr transducer on one or both stations.

Very low starting pressure for ultramicropore analysis.

Dedicated P0 cell with independent transducer, not shared with the sample cells.

Purity

Oil free turbomolecular vacuum system (optional for the AutoSorb-iQ-AG). A second isolated vacuum group can be used for the degas stations.

Low leakage all-metal seals.

Precision welded stainless steel manifolds and interconnections.

Minimised connection count on manifolds.

Sample pretreatment

2 integrated degas ports, with built-in programmable degassing.

  • Software controlled temperature and vacuum for sample preparation:
  • User defined protocols specify heating rates, hold times and automatic testing of degas rate.
  • Specification of rate threshholds for program advance or to limit heating rate for sensitive samples.
  • After completion, the sample may be maintained at vacuum or under a backfill of inert gas.
  • Allows cycled treatments (including purge/evacuation processes)
  • Measured data is saved automatically with the sample experimental data.
  • Optional independent pumping system, or (intelligently) shared with analysis stations (specialised protocols...)

Software

Full version software is supplied, with license for installation to office computers for data analysis and treatment.

Provides complete control of automatic sorption measurements and degassing.

The comprehensive library of data analysis models includes all common traditional models for:

  • Surface area (single and multi-point B.E.T., Langmuir, STSA, t-plot, alpha-s, DR),
  • pore size (BJH, DH, DA, MP, HK, SF) with their corresponding surface area values,
  • Kr-pore size for thin films,
  • heats of adsorption,
  • Fractal analysis(NK and FHH fractals)

ASWin also includes, at no extra cost:

  • the most diverse range of fully-validated DFT models (Monte-Carlo, NLDFT, QSDFT) for many different pore shapes & structures, chemical nature of the surface and specific adsorbate and temperature pairs.

Free upgrades are provided, in particular as new DFT models are developed.

Flexible and upgradable

Up to 90 hour autonomy, with 3 litre dewar supplied as standard.
Up to 14 gas inputs (5 as standard), plus Helium and a separate backfill gas for the degas stations ( 3 with  needle valves)
Offers a simple upgrade path as your requirements change:
