UltraPyc-1200e for Gas Pycnometry
The UltraPyc-1200e is a fully automated gas pycnometer, for the measurement of volume and density of powders, granular materials, and solid objects. Typical applications include:
-
porous materials such as catalysts and activated carbons
-
pharmaceuticals and excipients
-
foods (raw, refined and end products)
-
ceramics and refractory materials
-
geological samples (soils, rocks, sediments)
-
building materials (concrete, cement)
-
polymers and composites
For cellular foam materials, the specially adapted
UltraFoam-1200e
version is available. For small samples(<4.25cm3), as in typical pharmaceutical applications, the micro-UltraPyc allows the highest precision measurements.
Key features:
-
Accuracy: Careful thermal design and the use of high quality sensors assures precise and repeatable measurements.
-
Ease of use: Measurements are controlled from the front panel or from a remote computer. Each sample is given a unique identification which is recorded in the results report, along with the operator identifier.
-
Versatility: The full analysis protocol can be programmed, including purge mode and duration, measurement configuration, number of repeats and end criteria. A single protocol can be repeated for multiple samples, and saved protocols can be reloaded for later runs.
-
Connectivity: Measurement reports are accessible from a connected PC, via remote network access, or saved directly to a USB key connected to one of the built-in USB ports.
- Calibration: A set of NIST tracable calibration spheres is supplied with every instrument. The built-in calibration procedure requires user intervention only to load the appropriate Stainless Steel sphere.
- Multiple purging methods: Continuous flow, pulsed, vacuum outgassing (with optional vacuum pump).
- Gases: Nitrogen, Helium or SF6 are recommended. Other non-corrosive gases may be used for special applications.
- Programmable target pressure: Allows to adapt the maximum pressure for sensitive samples.
- Temperature Control: as an option, the UltraPyc can be configured for connection to a recirculating water bath, permitting measurements at specified temperature(s). This is particularly useful for samples with a large coefficient of thermal expansion.
